Alfaaz ka Safar: Slam Poetry 1.0

Alfaaz ka Safar was our first english slam poetry event organized in collaboration with NSS Unit of Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi. It was an english slam poetry competition with the theme of Self Love.

Rahul Kaushik and Tuheena Raj were our judges for the day. Poets and Poetesses came from all over and recited their thoughts on self love. In the times of hard to diagnose mental disorders, self love is our tool of ensuring that we stay well.
And a little vanity doth none harm! :p

ALFAAZ: Open Mic 5.0

Alfaaz was our first event of the year 2019. Alfaaz means words. And as poets and writers and storytellers, words are our tools to express ourselves the best. Give a writer, a pen and paper, and ze would establish their own world with it!

This open mic was no different than the previous ones. It was a new year, with new participants, new thoughts and new perceptions!

SUKOON: Open Mic 4.0

सुकून , the word means Peace. To be at peace, to be contented, to achieve nirvana. And that’s what the participants did. With the blissful poetry, soothing singing and heart touching stories, not only the performers, but everyone present felt that sukoon.

The enthusiastic participation from poetry, storytelling, singing, and stand up really made it a fun filled day, ending at yet another happy note.

Hunar-e-Dilli 1.0

Organized on the one year anniversary of Penned Peeps, Hunar-e-Dilli 1.0 was the first time when an event other than an open mic was organized. Hunar-e-Dilli aimed at opening the range of our platform to include more art forms and talents. The idea was to give everyone a stage to showcase themselves.
A panel of jury, experts of different fields, would judge the performers on various parameters and at the end of the event, a winner and runner up would be selected. Cash prizes, trophies, merchandise, vouchers and various assorted gifts were given to the winners!

This was a talent hunt event featuring brilliant poets and poetess to amazing painters, singers, instrumentalists, dancers and even a beat-boxer offering the toughest competition to each other!
Smriti Singh was adjudged the winner of the event and Pragya Dubey was the runner up.

  • Date: September 06, 2018
  • Venue: Muktdhara Auditorium, CP

This time we decided to do things a little differently. For this event, we collaborated with another community. And not just that, it was decided that our founder would judge the performances. At the end of the event, awards were given to the winner!

It was our fun little way of appreciating our performers and giving them a chance to compete with each other! As our horizons expanded, storytellers, singers and instrumentalists joined us, besides all the poets.

And then we came back for the second time. The objective of an open mic is to give the performers a stage, to give the writers a platform to express themselves. And that’s what happened here!

The location was the same and so were the intentions. The sweet music, beautiful lighting, comfortable ambience, and splendid poetry was just what the doctor ordered!

This is where it all began.
On the day right after holi, a small gathering of poets, poetesses and shayars, lit up the ambience of Kunzum Cafe, Hauz Khas. Some brought the stories of their love, some raised their voice of concerns, some left everyone laughing, and some brought tears to eyes.

It was an amazing evening. The participants came, they recited and they conquered!
